This has got to be one of the most spectacular openings of any movie filmed in Scotland.

It’s the opening scene from the 1995 movie Rob Roy, filmed in the hills to the east of Kinlochleven. In a single continuous shot lasting over one and a half minutes, it starts off with this stunning panorama sweeping out to the west along Loch Leven to the mountains of Glencoe and Ballachulish and beyond.

As the scene develops, with Rob Roy and his men coming closer into view, the camera slowly pans through 180 degrees, bringing Loch Eilde Mor and the hills to the east into view.
